I made it a year on ye ole blog!

I made it a year on ye ole blog!

I got an e-mail the other day saying my domain name needs renewing, which must mean I've been blogging for about year! I though this would be a good time to review what I've done during this trip around the sun and that which I haven't gotten to. Obviously this is no Julie/Julia where I feverishly plowed through every damn recipe in "Mastering the Art of French Cooking in 565 days. Oh no. I managed 30 blog posts. Which, if you ask me, aint half bad. It's not likely to be made into a full length feature starring Meryle Streep but I'm A-ok with my own half-assed effort.

What I HAVE accomplished (and maybe blogged about)

I made over my Craig's List bed not once but twice and I'm digging it ATM. I painted our bedroom  Sashay Sand (re:pink) just a few days ago and the navy velvet is looking hawt against it! Full reveal to come!

I participated in my first ever One Room Challenge, where I redid a room, in it's entirety, in 6 weeks. They don't call it a challenge for nothin'. That was super hard work, with it's fair share of hiccups but I freakin' love the end result. I don't know if I'll do the next one in October. It's crazy expensive and funds are earmarked for something else, I'll get to that later. It was very exciting to do however, I love a little interior design pressure.

I've done various design projects all of which I'm proud to have been a part of as well as landed a dream project.

I finally got a project completed that I've been thinking about since my third son was born, the little boys' shared bedroom! I feel relieved to have their space all put together and looking' fly.

I also, finally, bought a DSLR and am learning how to use it. I really wish I had done this a long time ago. I felt so intimidated by photography for some reason. Turns out I shouldn't have been. I'm no pro but I'm learning every day.

When I started the blog I called it "Outside and In" for couple reasons. One being, that I wanted to be a bit "introspective" and have potential for being more than a decor blog. I thought I wanted to do a bit of lifestyle stuff too. Turns out I mostly want to write decor posts, my personal life is difficult for me to put on the page. Not because it's a hard life or anything, I'm just not totally at ease sharing the deets. The other reason for the name is that when I wrote my first post we were embarking on a huge renovation of the exterior of this old beast. .. that stopped dead in it's tracks. We just didn't have the necessary funds for the enormous project. Fast forward one year and we have done a bit more on the exterior and are getting close to having the money to do it ALL, the right way. I'll keep you posted and the name shall remain the same. Someday there will, for real, be an outside of Casa Meininger to ogle.. someday!!

The icing on my year of blogging cake, is that our home was featured on Design Sponge Wednesday!! Not a bad year at all! Go check me out!! I'm so honored that they asked me!
